Facebook still retains the number one spot for most used social media network (2.6 billion users) although it’s closely rivalled with YouTube and Whatsapp (2 billion users each). Instagram falls just behind new kid on the block TikTok with 1082 and 800 million users respectively.
The UK has seen a huge fall in the lower age groups on Facebook with under 25s preferring Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok, which gives us an indication of the way social media and content marketing as a whole is going. Over 55s are less likely to switch social networking channels with Facebook being the key social media marketing tool.
Looking to the future, messaging platforms will continue to grow due to privacy concerns. Social media messaging changes the game, not only because it’s the go-to form of communication across digital platforms but because you can only message warm leads.
